Injections of botulinum toxin

A muscle relaxant that prevents and slows wrinkles without danger !

With aging, wrinkles appear on the forehead, between the eyebrows and around the eyes.

Wrinkles are the consequence of repeated facial expressions. Each time the muscles are used for facial expressions, the skin is continually and invariably creased at the same places. Over time, permanent creases or wrinkles develop on the skin at these places.

Botulinum toxin, better known as “Botox®”, has a relaxing effect on muscles. In order to prevent or reduce wrinkles, “botox” is used to treat the muscles responsible for wrinkles.

Our medical clinic in Brussels is specialized in anti-wrinkle treatments, such as injections of botulinum toxin.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it prevent wrinkles?

Yes, “botox” is a proven and effective treatment for wrinkle prevention. Generally, the first wrinkles appear between the ages of 30 and 35. This is the ideal time to start a preventive treatment with botulinum toxin to avoid the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles and slow down their evolution. Sometimes, the “frown lines” appear between the eyebrows before the age of 30. In that case, the “frown muscles” can be treated earlier.

Does it treat wrinkles?

Yes, “botox” can be used to treat existing wrinkles, but prevention is better than cure. Once wrinkles have appeared and remain at rest, treatment with botulinum toxin can stop or slow the progression of these wrinkles. Without treatment, wrinkles become more pronounced and deeper over time. A treatment with botulinum toxin can prevent this further progression and provide a more smoother and youthful appearance of the skin.

Is it dangerous?

Contrary to popular belief, botulinum toxin is not dangerous as long as the right dose is used in the right place. The treatment is performed by a doctor who will ensure that all necessary precautions are taken and that contraindications to treatment are excluded. Nevertheless, unwanted effects can occur, such as : a drooping eyelid, a lower position of the eyebrows or a swelling around the eyes. Fortunately, these side effects are infrequent and temporary (unwanted side effects disappear spontaneously after 1 month).

Is the result natural?

A common concern is that “botox” makes you look unnatural, without any expression or “frozen”. But in our Brussels aesthetic clinic, we strive to natural results and offer treatments that smooth the skin while maintaining a natural appearance!

How long does the result last?

The result of the treatment is visible after 1 week. After that, the effect is maximal during the following 6 weeks and will then gradually fade away. After 4 to 6 months, botulinum toxin no longer works and the treatment can be repeated. You can make your appointment at our clinic in Brussels if you want to repeat your “botox” treatment.

Is there an obligation to repeat the treatment?

Not at all. If the treatment is not repeated, the normal progression of wrinkles resumes. If the treatment is repeated, the evolution of wrinkles is suspended in the longer term.

What happens during a treatment?

The treatment consists of injecting the correct dose of botulinum toxin into the muscles responsible for wrinkles. Several injections are made using a very fine needle to limit the pain and marks on the skin. The treatment is slightly painful, but does not last long and is completely tolerable.

What to expect after a treatment?

After a treatment, a slight redness and swelling is present in the treated area, but these marks disappear after a few hours and usually your entourage does not even notice it. If a bruise occurs, this mark remains visible longer. Normal activities can be resumed immediately after treatment, but makeup is not recommended in the treated area the day of treatment. Sports and heat should be avoided for 2 days while facial treatments should be postponed for 10 days.
